Self-Employed

Your business income, read properly.

Add-backs, one-year financials, BAS and accountant declarations - presented the way credit teams need to see them.

Income evidence we work with

  • Two years of company and personal tax returns (full-doc)
  • One year of financials with the right lenders
  • Six or twelve months of BAS statements
  • Accountant's letter or declaration where policy allows

The add-backs that get missed

  • Depreciation and amortisation
  • One-off and non-recurring expenses
  • Superannuation above the compulsory rate
  • Interest on debt being refinanced or repaid

Common questions.

I've only been trading 12 months - can I borrow?

With some lenders yes, particularly if you were previously employed in the same industry. Policy varies significantly, which is where panel knowledge matters.

Do alt-doc loans cost more?

Typically a rate premium applies, but not always a large one. Many clients start alt-doc and refinance to full-doc once financials catch up.

My accountant minimises my taxable income. Is that a problem?

It's a common tension. We identify legitimate add-backs and choose lenders whose assessment method suits how your business is structured.
